Current Status

We are currently in the process of producing the film trailer. I am currently involved in producing the sound for the trailer. I have found the soundtracks that will be used in the trailer. I am bringing together the different parts of the songs for the overall soundtrack.

Filming

We had filmed over 2 days. First during the daytime to capture day shots and the second in the evening to capture the night time shots. The majority of our filming had taken place in Balsall Heath/Highgate, an area which is suitable for the genre of our film. We had also filmed in the City Centre to get shots of the city at night time which are prominently used in these types of films. We had recorded a variety of shots and filmed more than needed so we can have more to choose from whilst editing the trailer.

Genre

Our genre for our film trailer will be Crime/Gangster. This is a genre that as teenagers living in the UK we can relate to this and voice a variety of opinions and express this in the production of the trailer.

Target Audience

Our main target audience will be male, aged 14-25.
We will be promptly aiming to target an audience which can relate to the genre and theme of the film. As the film is about crime in low stated areas in the UK, we would like to target audiences that can relate to the feelings of the characters in the film and who have experienced similar situations. As crime has been a growing problem in the UK in recent years, we would like to portray the consequences of such lifestyle to those who are involved in such events and those who are merging into this lifestyle.

Character Ideas

We would like to have our characters appearing in similar ways to these characters in well known Crime/Gangster films.

Soundtrack

As my main role is to construct the sound of the film trailer, i will be using parts of different songs to create the sound for the trailer.
At the beginning of the trailer, i will be using a snippet from the song "Bomb First" by 2pac (1:05 - 1:13). This will be used whilst the production companies logos are on screen. I have decided to do this so it gives an idea of the genre or type of film the trailer is going to show even before anything is actually viewed.
2pac-Bomb First
At the beginning of the trailer, i have decided to use a section of the music from the song "Ransom" by Wretch 32, Bashy and Scorcher (2:28 - 3:10). The music is slow and dramatic and correlates to the opening style of the trailer.
Ransom-Wretch32,Bashy,Scorcher
The soundtrack for our film trailer will be the introduction of Giggs' Album Walk In The Park.
This particular song relates to the trailer as it begins slowly building up anticipation, the same as our trailer. The lyrics of the song relate to the main character (Aqib).

Trailer Outline

Our film trailer will be mainly posed around 2 male characters. A teenager after being shot in a drive by shooting alongside his best friend who tragically dies, sets out for revenge for the people who did this to him. The other main character will be the sort of "villain" character who is responsible for the shooting.

Film Trailer

Due to recent problems and difficulties with attempting to produce a film trailer with our current ideas, we have decided as a group to begin a new idea basing the film genre on Crime/Gangster. A similar style to that of Adulthood. We believe this style is more achievable and with basic ideas we will be able to make the trailer more effective.

Detective In Horror Films

A common character in Horror films is a detective who is there to save the victims and bring down the villain.
In the trailer for "Prom Night", the detective is streotypically shown with his costume of a suit and the effects of the police working files around him. He also tells the story of what the film is about through his dialogue.
I would like to create a similar character for myself as the dialogue I shall be using shall be used to tell the story of what is going to happen in the film.

What I Will Need:
> Gun
> Badge
> Costume - Shirt/Suit

Action:
> Investigating
> Walking slowly with gun
> Leaving car

Examples of Dialogue:
> "So, we have a male, possibly 16, stabbed multiple times and death is caused by loss of blood?"
> "She isn't going to stop untill she kills them all!"

N.B The tone of voice shall be strong as it would portray the authority and status of the character.

Camera Shots/Angles In Horror Film Trailers

Horror films create a tense, scary atmosphere. Therefore a variety of camera shots/angles are used to make the trailer more effective and more scarier.
Close up: Used on characters faces to show a frightened impression.
Mid Shot: Used on main characters to express their role. Used on the villain to show their authority in the film.
Long Shot: Used to show a murder scene from far away. This adds more effect as it creates the prospect of what is happening around the even of the murder.
Worm Eye: This shot is mainly used on a dead characters body laying on the floor.
Tracking: This is used prominently in Horror films to show a character being chased.
Low Angle: Used when a victim is looking up at the villain, shows the power the villain has over the victim.

Storyboard

I have created a final storyboard consisting of a possible 22 shots. This will be used as a guide whilst we shoot and edit our film trailer.

Individual Role

Our trailer shall consist of camera, sound and editing work. My main priority shall be the camera. I shall be researching many different camera angles/shots used in "Horror" movie trailers and gain an idea of which can be used in our movie trailer.

I shall also be acting as a "Detective" in the film trailer. I will research the appearance, body language, and dialogue of a variety of Detectives in Horror films. I shall use these ideas to create my own character for our film trailer.

Our Film Trailer

INSPIRATIONS:
We have mainly been inspired by 2 films, the story of “Carrie” and the film trailer of “Prom Night. We would like to use a similar character to that of “Carrie”. We would like to use a similar idea of the trailer of “Prom Night” where at the beginning it doesn’t look like a horror film and then suddenly we find out it is a horror film.

STORY:
Christie, a teenage girl starts at a new school/college. Her physical appearance makes her stand out from others. She becomes friends with a group of 3 males and 3 females. Although Christie sees this as “too good to be true”, she ignores the fact and decides to make friends ass quick as possible. Her so called friends decide to bully her and abuse her. A scene takes place in the girls toilets where Christie is beaten by the group of girls and left for death. At this point of the film, we see a change in the character of Christie as she begins to turn evil and into a “psycho”. She decides to take revenge on the group and begins to kill them one by one.

LAYOUT:
Introduction of Christie
Becoming friends with the group
Christie & The Group socialising
The Group betray Christie and beat her up
The change in character of Christie
Action from the film of Christie taking revenge
Movie Title
One last shot that will be used to make the audience “jump”

EDITING & SOUND:
We will be using slow and quick cuts for different parts of the trailer. This will build up suspense and anticipation

We will decide to use 2 main types of music. At the beginning we will use something similar to “Hip Hop”. This will be used when Christie is socialising with the group and the film doesn’t look like a horror film. Then we would like to use something similar to the “Saw” theme where it builds up anticipation and goes with the building up of suspense in the trailer.

CAMERA:
Wide shot
Mid-shot
Over the shoulder
Close up
Extreme Close up

MISE EN SCENE:
Costume
All the characters shall be wearing casual clothing as they will be in a school/college setting.
Christie, the main character and also seen as the villain shall have a particular piece of clothing which shall elude her from the other characters so she is clearly seen as the villain.
Props
A weapon (knife) used by the villain (Christie). This is conventional in the genre of “Horror” for the villain to have some sort of weapon.

Setting
The main setting shall be a school/college. Other settings will include a graveyard of some sort.

AUDIENCE:
We will be certifying our film for the age of 15-25. We have chosen this category as we believe more people will be able to view the film. As the characters in the film shall be around a similar age group, we believe they will be able to be related more to in this age group.
We would like to target a pre sold audience with the genre of “Horror” and to that of “Carrie” we shall be doing this by using similar ideas from “Carrie” in our own film trailer.
We shall be targeting males and females, however, females shall be the primary target as the main character shall be female and they can relate to the character more than male audiences.

CHARACTERS:
Christie
The film shall be based around her character. having started a new school/college, she becomes friends with a group of 6 people who she seems are her true friends however they are there just to use her and bully her. Her appearance shows her vulnerability to the group and makes her a target for them. Having been used/betrayed by her “friends”, she turns into a psychopath and decides to take revenge on those who have hurt her

Friends
A group of 6 people (3 male, 3 female) decide to use Christie as she has just started their school/college and they see her vulnerability in her appearance.

Police Officer
A typical character in a horror film in which he is there to try and save the helpless victims from Christie.
